About Us

History

Sadadeen School was opened in 1983, with principal Mrs Lorraine Braham. The school had a 1/2 class, 2/3 class, and a 4/5/6 class which later extended into year 7. A Student council and Parent council were formed within the year.
The school was named after Charlie Sadadeen, a famous Territory cameleer and bushman who came to Alice Springs in the early 1900s. He carted goods between Oodnadatta and Alice Springs and was a leader within the Afghan community. Three other famous cameleers are ‘Abdul Khalick’, ‘Sallay Mahomet’ and ‘William Satour’. Our sporting house teams are named after these cameleers.

Our vision

Learning Together, Connecting the Community

School Values

In 2023, we decided to simplify and condense the number of values and learner qualities. Staff and student voice was gathered. Potential values were further unpacked with students during SEL lessons. Families were surveyed, staff and student leaders were then reconsulted and the values were then presented to the school council, who approved the change of values from safe, respectful, and responsible to safe, respectful, kind and strong.
Work then began on the symbols of these values during SEL lessons, with the students’ designing pictures and symbols that are to be used to represent the new values, both on posters and on new signage around the school. There was a special unveiling of the values which occurred in conjunction with Sadadeen’s 40th Birthday celebration held August 2023.
The explicit teaching of these values will allow students to learn and practice using these values in a variety of settings and situations.

School Song

Our school sung was collaboratively written by students and staff in October 2008 and reflects the history of our school and our vision of learning together and connecting our community. It was composed and arranged by Mrs Pia Harrison, a teacher at Sadadeen Primary School.

SADADEEN SCHOOL SONG:
Welcome here to Sadadeen
The school where we belong
Learning is fun and we have good times,
Our friends are really strong.

Our School is named after Charlie Sadadeen,
Khalick, Mahomed, and Satour,
They were Afghan Cameleers,
Our history is clear to see…

Welcome here to Sadadeen
The school where we belong
Learning is fun and we have good times,
Our friends are really strong.

We are near the MacDonnell Ranges,
Where the Caterpillar Dreaming is.
Arrentre is the language of
Alhere Aretepe in Alice Springs.

We’re connecting our community,
Students, Teachers, Family,
Working together in harmony.
Everything is here for me
We have our own identity
This is why we sing…

Welcome here to Sadadeen
The school where we belong
Learning is fun and we have good times,
Our friends are really strong.
We are really strong!
Sadadeen is really strong!

Can we put a recording of the song?
